Hull Island - A New Frontier

2014 - Exploring before buying. All alone. I was ready to buy Hull Island but had a few lingering doubts.. Was there a decent buildable site? Were there any hidden problems hiding on the island? A hazardous waste dump?  I wanted to go back and take a closer look before buying.  This time all by myself for two nights. Don seemed pleased to see me back.  Maybe the American guy is serious??  I've learned a ton about the area in just a few trips back and forth with Don.  History, people, seasons, animals, wildlife, places are all part of the 1 1/2 hour taxi ride from Port McNeill to Hull and back on his safe and fast aluminum boat. I decided to camp at the top of the island and once again was plagued by too much to carry. Still haven't perfected the weight! Don Wilson. Good Fortune from the Start Don Wilson in his taxi For our first visit to Hull Island, Heidi and I needed a ride from Vancouver Island to Hull Island and back. I managed to convince Heidi that a one day visit was definitely safe and just a quick look to see first hand if it was worth pursuing. It wasn't a commitment or anything. I found Don Wilson and Silver King Taxi via the Port McNeill Business Bureau. Don was impressed I found him this way as he was a town council member and supported the business bureau. Things started off on the right foot! Even more exciting, when I described the island Don says, "yeah, I know the place, it's 1/2 a mile from my home!" Priceless coincidence. We met Don on the dock in Port McNeill and started a great relationship that will last forever.
